I’m Amy a journalist and part-time foodie.

I’m still in the first flushes of romance with baking, having only recently got my very own kitchen in which to make a mess – along with a variety of kitchen oddments – the tools of my craft if you like.

Every Saturday I set myself the challenge to bake something I have never baked before, with varying success. I take my recipes from magazines and websites, and will try my hand at almost anything labelled as “Easy” or “Moderately Easy” – remember I’m just beginning.

This blog charts my successes, failures and everything in between. Not only do I get to practice my cooking, I get to have a go at food writing and food photography.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a line – just visit my regular blog, Notes from my Sofa, to find my contact details.

Happy Baking!

    Dear Amy,
I am looking for great amateur bakers to enter a BBC competition about baking and I came across your blog. I love the loko of your rocky road biscuits. You look like an excellent baker and I would love to have a chat with you about it, and tell you more about the series. Please give me a call or email me your number.
    Best wishes,
    Madeline Eaton

    Dear Amy,
I am working for an independent production company that are developing a new television series about home baking presented by a renowned master patissier. It will be a show full of wonderful recipes for cakes and desserts and will celebrate the fact that baking is once again coming back into fashion.

We are looking for groups of people who get together to bake or who are interested in baking. I came across your blog and was very interested in the Saturday baking challenge!

As part of the programme we would like to invite baking clubs from across the country to take part in a kind of masterclass run by our celebrity baker. Each episode will see our presenter cook with a different club. We are looking for a diverse range of people of all ages and abilities who like to bake– what is important is their enthusiasm and passion for baking.

It would be great to have a group from Wales on the show and I was wondering whether you get together with friends to bake or have a group of keen bakers that you sometimes cook with that might be interested in taking part.

Please get in touch by email or give me a call
I look forward to hearing from you.

    With best wishes,

    Sally Wingate
