Sainsbury’s Magazine Whoopie Pie

June 19, 2010

Currently doing the rounds in all the food magazines and ousting the ubiquitous cupcake, the Whoopie Pie is the big baking trend of 2010.

So, naturally, when I saw them on the front of Sainsbury’s Magazine, I had to give them a go.

Whoopie pies, you’ll be pleased to know, are relatively easy to make. The recipe was fairly easy to follow. The only problem being that if you want to make several varieties, it’s quite tricky to know what kind of amounts you should be using to make a varied large batch than 6 mahoosive batches!

I settled on just the two varieties, raspberry and coconut and plain vanilla with fancy decorations. It probably would have been a bit neater if I’d used a piping bag to pipe out the whoopie pie mixture, but I kinda liked the mismatched style of these.

In a nutshell, these are something I’m keen to keep making in the future. Easier to make than cupcakes, and definitely less fussy, decorating them is just as fun.

Taste: 3.5/5 Not exactly a taste sensation, but solid all the same.

Difficulty: 2.5/5 Somewhat hard, and tricky to look perfect, but don’t worry too much about that.

Amendments: None technically, although I split the recipe in half to make two varieties.

Chance of remake: 5/5 Definitely something I’ll be giving a whirl in the future, especially with different kinds.
